The Centenary Suburbs Historical Society Inc was formed in 1996 to collect and preserve the history of our local community for the benefit of current and future generations. New members and visitors are welcome to attend our meetings and are encouraged to participate in our activities. Our historical interests cover a wide time period, including early exploration, pioneering days, urban development and recent events.

The Society was formed in 2013 to research, preserve and promote the history and heritage of Moggill district including, but not restricted to, the suburbs of Bellbowrie, Anstead, Pullenvale and Pinjarra Hills. Activities include evening lectures, field trips, displays at school fetes, lectures to local groups, members’ research projects and research for other groups.

Its aim is to further the appreciation of local history and the diverse cultural heritage within our community. Our area of interest covers the south-western fringe of metropolitan Brisbane. Toowong History Group was established in 2000 when the West Toowong Community Association, initially formed to moderate the impact of development on the area, decided to set up a specialist interest group to research the families who had built not only their homes but their lives in Toowong over the past 150 years. The group meets monthly with guest speakers presenting on a variety topics both with a Toowong and wider focus.
